A 3-day driving adventure through Mexico.

Four hundred miles west of Mexico City, on the Pacific coast, there is a tourist resort city called Puerto Vallarta. Sixty miles north of Puerta Vallarta, at the mouth of the Estero El Conchal River, there is a town called San Blas.

               Happy to be alive. Check out those beaches. That's San Blas in the distance.

San Blas is a quaint Mexican fishing village with a small shrimp harbor – its sleepy character belies its major historical importance. Back in the day, (16th-19th centuries) San Blas was the most important pacific port from which Spain launched her fleet of naos (trading galleons with China).
